My Skincare Routine in Paris | French Girl Beauty

Skincare is a big deal in the summer. The humidity, heat and sweat all take their toll on your skin. And with all the activities we do in France in the summer—going to the park, catching a movie or grabbing a quick bite at an outdoor market—our skin goes through hell. That’s why you need to keep your skin hydrated and protected from environmental factors as much as possible. That’s where your skincare routine comes in. Skincare plays a major role in keeping your skin healthy and radiant, so it’s important to invest time into it every day. This post is going to outline my skincare routine for when I go on vacation, which includes tips for keeping your skin hydrated and avoiding breakouts while you’re away from home.

## What’s in my skincare routine?

In order to keep your skin hydrated and protected from the summer heat, it’s key to invest time into your skincare routine. Here’s what I do when I go on vacation.

## Morning routine

When I wake up in Paris, I wash my face with a glycolic acid cleanser (I love La Roche-Posay’s Toleriane P50) followed by a low-pigment sunscreen. If I’m travelling somewhere warm, I’ll swap the glycolic acid cleanser out for a face wash that hydrates and cleanses while reducing the appearance of pores. Both face washes work well, but glycolic acid will reduce the appearance of pores, which I prefer.

My sunscreen is either the La Roche-Posay Anthelios SP30 (great for oily skin), or the Garnier SkinActive Nutritive Hydrata-C Cleansing Face Wash (for dry skin). They’re both oil-free and non-comodegible, so they don’t dissolve under sunscreen. What I love about these two sunscreen products is that they have a water-like texture. It feels a bit strange at first, but it’s actually really comfortable. You don’t need to apply sunscreen every few hours, which is a lifesaver. While I’m washing my face, I’ll also apply my makeup wipes to remove any excess oils before applying my makeup as well.

## Day time routine

When it comes to your day time routine, you want to wash your face with a foaming cleanser in the morning and mask at night, then follow up with a lightweight moisturizer.

I love to use the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for a foaming cleanser because it’s affordable, gentle, and has an SPF of 50. It’s also non-comodegible, so you don’t have to worry about it dissolving under your sunscreen.

Right after I wash my face, I’ll apply a lightweight moisturizer. I have a few favorites, including the La Roche-Posay Anthelios SP30, which has SPF 30 and is oil-free and non-comodegible. It’s perfect for hot climates

I also love the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Eye Creme because it’s non-greasy, has SPF 15 and is water-resistant. I’ll also apply my makeup wipes, which are like makeup remover wipes but are perfect for removing excess oils and makeup when you’re on the go.

## Night time routine

When you get home from work, you still want to keep your skin protected, so you’ll want to reapply your sunscreen, followed by a soothing mask if you have time. If you don’t have time, you can skip this step and cleanse your face, and then apply your moisturizer.

I always keep the La Roche-Posay Anthelios SP30 in my bag for reapplying my sunscreen, which is non-greasy and works for oily skin. I also love the Origins Modern Skin Mask and Beauty Elixir, which are both cooling, calming, and hydrating. I’ll cleanse my face with a Cetaphil cleanser, and then follow up with my toner, which is the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

## Tips for staying hydrated and preventing breakouts while you’re away from home

– Drink water! It’s essential to stay hydrated, which is especially important in the summer when you’re sweating more and your skin is more likely to be oily due to the heat. Not only will drinking water keep your skin hydrated, but it will also help prevent breakouts.
– Wear sunscreen! Make sure to slather on your sunscreen every day, even if you’re only outside for a few minutes. Once you’ve hydrated your skin with water and your skin is more porous, you’re more likely to get a breakout.
– Invest in a dry shampoo! Dry shampoo is a lifesaver for travellers who want to stay hydrated and protect their hair from oil build-up. It’s like a lighter version of normal shampoo, so it’s perfect for travelling.
– Invest in a facial mist. Facial mists are perfect for hydrating your skin and preventing breakouts while on the go. They’re easy to carry in your bag and are not over-drying, so they’re perfect for those with oily skin.
– Invest in a setting spray. Setting sprays are great for setting your makeup and controlling oil. They’re not as heavy as a moisturizer, so they’re great for those with oily skin who don’t want to look like they’re coated in oil.

## Conclusion

When you’re away from home for long periods of time, you need to keep your skin protected. This includes drinking plenty of water, applying sunscreen, and staying away from harmful factors, like pollution and the sun. These are especially important if you’re travelling to a country where pollution is elevated, like Paris.

Not only will these steps keep your skin protected, but they will also keep your skin hydrated, which is especially important in the summer when you’re sweating more and your skin is more likely to be oily due to the heat. Stay protected with these tips and your skin will be happy when you get home.
